How does the EU fund Civil Protection Policy?
- The Community Action Programme is provided with a budget line of € 5,5 million in 2005.
- Established by the Council Regulation of 11 November 2002, the main purpose of the Solidarity Fund is to grant financial assistance to help EU Member States and Candidate Countries hit by a major disaster faced with serious repercussions on living conditions, the natural environment or the economy in one or more regions of the affected country. The total amount that can be mobilised in a given year is € 1 billion.
- The Rapid Response and Preparedness Instrument for major emergencies proposed by the Commission will provide European civil protection actions with annual amounts ranging from €16 million in 2007 to €30 million in 2013
